Iworo FM 96.3 Marks One Year of Broadcasting Excellence
Iworo FM 96.3, Nigeria’s leading indigenous radio station, marked its first anniversary on Saturday, 7 February 2026, with a colourful celebration that brought together dignitaries, community leaders, and residents of Iworo and neighbouring communities.
The anniversary ceremony was graced by prominent personalities, including the Oniworo of Iworo-Awori Kingdom, Oba (Dr.) Oladele Friday Kosoko; Chairman of Olorunda LCDA, Hon. Ajose Peter Kumayon; the Oba of Apa Kingdom; as well as Christian and Muslim clerics, among others.
Proceedings began with a thanksgiving session, during which organisers expressed gratitude to God for the station’s growth and resilience since its establishment in 2025. While acknowledging the challenges faced in the course of operations, speakers attributed the station’s steady progress to divine support and collective effort.
Speaking at the event, the Oba of Apa Kingdom highlighted the transformative impact of Iworo FM on the community. According to him, the station has enhanced the visibility of Iworo Kingdom beyond its immediate environment, positioning it prominently on the national stage. He also commended the management for its vision and rapid operational growth within just one year.
“Iworo FM is a good initiative that has attracted development to the community. It has placed Iworo Kingdom on the national map, all thanks to the amazing and laudable work of the management. Within one year, there has been tremendous progress in the operations of this radio station. I am glad to see the improvements and also congratulate the people of Iworo for having an investment like this,” he said.

In recognition of its achievements, Iworo FM 96.3 received awards from 1423 Communications for its outstanding contributions to the broadcasting industry. The station was honoured as the *Fastest Rising Indigenous Radio Station in the Badagry–Iworo axis* and *Best Radio Station in Breaking News Coverage Across the Interlands*.
A representative of 1423 Communications explained that the awards were based on consistent monitoring and assessment of the station’s performance, noting that Iworo FM has distinguished itself within a short time.
“Iworo FM deserves all the accolades it is getting because it has done exceedingly well for the community and Lagos State as a whole. These awards are the result of careful observation of the station’s operations and activities. It is indeed marvellous,” the representative stated.
Receiving the awards on behalf of the station, the Oniworo of Iworo-Awori Kingdom and Board Chairman, Oba Oladele Friday Kosoko, expressed appreciation and reaffirmed his commitment to the continued growth of the station.
“We are very happy with this award. It shows that we are being watched, and to be considered for these laudable awards means a lot to us. I will continue to show commitment to this radio station and will do even more as we move forward in the coming years,” he said.
The celebration also featured raffle draws, with participants winning items such as electric fans, bags of rice, clothing materials, and other food items, adding colour and excitement to the landmark occasion.
