The National Universities Commission (NUC) has issued guidelines for the award and use of honorary doctoral degrees in the country.
In a document issued on Thursday, the NUC said the guidelines became necessary to prevent abuse.
According to the guidelines, institutional eligibility and valued contributions related to the degree are important requirements for the award of such degrees.
